Sri Rama Navami

Sri Ramavathar is one of the greatest Avathaar (incarnation) taken by Sriman Narayanan. This Rama Avathaar explains lots and lots of guidelines that need to be followed by each and every person in this world. During this Avathaar, Sriman Narayanan incarnates as the son for great king, Dasarathan. But in spite of being born to a great king, throughout this Avathaar, he led his life as an ordinary person. And, during this Avathaar, irrespective of the caste/creed, he helped all the persons who seeked his help and extended his divine hands to all of his bhaktas.

Sugreevan, Vibheeshanan, Agalikai, Guhan, Sabari are some of the great personalities who have got the help of Sri Ramar during Vana Vaasam time (while he was in the forest).

Navami and Sri Ramar:

Generally, we will not perform (or) start any new issues (or) work during Ashtami (the day Sri Krishnar is born) nor in Navami. And during this Navami thithi only, Sri Ramar was born.

There is a small and beautiful story behind this. Each and every thithi has karthaas (Head or Chief). Once, these two thithis - Ashtami and Navami went towards Thriuppaarkadal and questioned that these two thithis are not being accepted by any of the person in the Bhoolokam and thinks that these two were not used for any of the new business not new things being started during these days. But, on hearing this, Sriman Narayanan answered them that to explain the greatness of these thithis, he will be born in the earth, during these thithis. And as a result of this only, Sri Ramar was born in Navami and Sri Krishnar in Ashtami and the entire world is celebrating these two days as a great festival.

The festival day:

This great Sri Rama Navami falls during the month of Panguni (March 15 - April 15).

This Navami festival in North side is celebrated as Rama Leela for eight days prior to the Navami day and during these days, daily Parayanam of Sri Ramayanam, Rama Leela are done.

In south, the Rama Navami festival is celebrated not only in temples in a grand way but also it is celebrated in each and every house too.

What should be done during this day?

During this day, we should clean our house, put the Kolam and place a photo of Sri Ramar Pattabhishekam on top of a wooden plate (Manai). Decorate the photo with various flowers. And now you can perform Archanai for Sri Ramar and after that you can chant some of the slokams from Sri Ramayanam.

Sri Rama NavamiAlso, you can chant Sri Rama Nama and it is 100% evident that wherever the great Sri Rama Nama is expressed, Hanuman will enjoy that Nama and along with Sri Ramar, he will also bless us with his grace.

More to this, by chanting the Sri Rama Nama, it is said that bhaktas will get the favour equivalent to that of the favour got by fasting. Not even on this day, even daily we should atleast say the Sri Rama Japa for 108 times (or atleast for 28 times) and we can a lot of positive changes on our life.

During this day, you should dedicate Vadai, Payasam, butter milk (diluted water) etc. and along with this, the great Sri Rama Nama. From children to elders, all can perform this great festival and chant Sri Rama Nama how many times you can. So, during this great day, chant the Nama and get the complete blessings of Sri Ramar, Sita Piratti, Lakshmanan and Siriya Thiruvadi - Hanuman.
